COVID-19 PIVOT (COVOT)

With huge travel restrictions in place across the globe, tourism operators will feel the effects of COVID-19 strongly. Even local operators will struggle to comply with the social distancing rules put in place by their government. Tourism operators will need to start thinking about how they can maintain mental availability to their audience so that when tourism does start to pick up again, they can be top of mind.

Possible COVOTS

  • Set up an online tourism planner that allows potential future customers to plan their holidays and live chat with staff
  • Provide a virtual tourism service. This could include online walkthroughs of tourist attractions as well as live video of guides providing additional information and answering questions.

An initiative initially designed to build New Zealand's tourism workforce has set up a new online service with the aim of supporting displaced workers.
