COVID-19 PIVOT (COVOT)

Despite record low passenger numbers, many international airports are required to continue operating to allow overseas residents to return home and to ensure the supply of critical airfreight. Smaller airports have also had to ground planes and release staff due to dramatic reductions in domestic flights.

Possible COVOTS

  • Move airport retail online and allow customers to buy from their homes
  • Most airports have considerable real estate — consider using empty buildings and infrastructure to provide support for services such as healthcare or logistics
Example of a COVOT

Brisbane Airport - BNE Marketplace

Brisbane Airport has partnered with its retailers to launch BNE Marketplace, an online airport retail store which will give customers access to discounted products.
